Touristic city with a rich historic past


The city of GIVET has a very special place in the french valley of the 'Meuse'. As well in geographical as historical view, this city offers a rich touristic value that makes it worth discovering.

The FORTRESS of CHARLEMONT
The fortress of Charlemont that dominates the city from above on the rocks is the only piece of military architechture left, in the north of France, since the 17th century. Its history is closely connected with the history of GIVET. You can visit the fortress every day between the 1st of july up until the 31st of august. Opening hours : 10 - 12 AM and 14 -18 PM.


The VICTOIRE-TOWER
Today, this construction from the 14th and 15th century is a museum about the old prison. De Victoire-Tower is the location for many expositions in the touristic season. The Tower is opened for the public from the 1st of june up until the 31st of august, every day between 14 - 18 PM.


EUROPEAN CENTRE of ART and HANDICRAFT
Come and admire the many pieces of handicraft-art and learn to know the typical products of the region. This centre is opened troughout the year, every day between 10 - 12 AM and 14.30 - 18 PM (exept on monday- and sundaymorning).


The CAVES of NICHET
In Fromelennes, in minutes distance of Givet, in a remarkable and picturesque scene of nature. These caves have kept their typical and untouched looks and are without competition the most perculiar curiosity of the Ardennes. They are opened for the public between the 1st of april up to the end of september.
